Attending: Kevin, Jan, Chris, Margery, Elden
Elden reported on the alpaca social media campaign. He spoke with Rebecca Gill re some direction in promoting alpacas across the board, probably nationally. A zoom call was held with several affiliates attending, seeking commitment to fund a professional to do it (photos, videos, literature, websites, etc). Elden will send a link to the zoom call to us and affiliates to watch the video. Estimate to hire a professional, more than 15K. Contact with AOA indicated they don’t have plans to do this and are focused elsewhere. Other questions – who would be the treasurer, which affiliates would join in, would AOA collaborate with the efforts, give us latitude and assistance, how to contact/engage/recruit affiliates?? Discussion ensued. To proceed, the next step is to get commitment/funds from affiliates/farms, then find a free lancer to do the work. It will take time. Thank you to Elden for doing all this work. GLAA will support this effort.
Margery reported on the show. New volunteer coordinator is Melissa Warner from Lucky Clover Farm. Thank you, Melissa! April 25-27, 2025 reserved at New Holland Center, need to get contract signed. Other discussions include the dinner, new vendors, review and validate roles. Judges are being selected for 2025 show: Amanda VandenBosch, verbal, possibly Helen Testa, Fauke Bermann. “Saving the Shows” article will be tabled until next meeting. Jan is talking with insurance agents about vendors needing insurance.
No update on Open Herd, looking at October.
