Seminar update – 10 registrations. All of us should reach out to our contacts we know of who might attend. Seminar will be at Creekside in Evansville on April 6, 2024, approximately 8-4. Kevin will have handouts printed, needs by April 1. Approximate schedule – Morning: 8-8:30breakfast; 8:30 1.5 hours Rebecca Gill, from Cotton Creek Farms in Michigan re websites, marketing, social media, etc. is confirmed. 10:30 1.5 hr Jason Gill on the color genetics research done with Lynn Edens. (Short breaks scheduled in as needed.) 12-1 lunch. Afternoon: 1-2 1hr Kevin will present on agritourism. Break as needed. 2:30-3:30 Elden – panel for Q&A, including monthly check ups, hands-on alpacas (outdoors if weather permits). Ronelle again is in charge of food – thank you Ronelle! We need to look at avenues of future presentations (online, face-to-face, who’s who, etc.)
Show update – 31 farms, 93 animals, some farms still haven’t signed up animals. Could use more sponsors and vendors, though many are returning from last year. Changes can still be made if you have completed registration. Registration closes April 8. Discussion ensued re more participation strategies. Dinner and entertainment is being planned (fashion show). Needs an announcer for the show ring. Kevin knows a person who can help show animals, can announce at show.
Election Update – Jan and Chris are the only two candidates running for the two open GLAA board positions. Chris contacted Brook about the response for board candidates, and she only received Jan’s and my statements. We should proceed with the election with myself and Jan on the ballot, along with a write-in slot. They should be sent out by March 27, and include our statements, and votes should be returned by April 8 so results can be announced at the Madison show. We can remind people at the seminar to vote.
Meeting adjourned at 6:55 PM.
Next meeting April 22, 2024, 6PM
Respectfully submitted by Secretary Christine Rogers.
